This short novel tells the discovery of a pearl of incalculable value and the consequences that a modest fisherman, Kino, whose son has been the victim of a scorpion sting. However, the interest of this novel lies in the confrontation between two worlds, that of the rich and that of the poor, and in the process of change in human relations depending on the economic situation of the people. This explains why it is a novel widely used in school to invite ethical reflection. In the centenary of this great author, it was obligatory to dignify and put a good hardcover edition of this small literary jewel within the reach of Spanish readers.
